Trans Ally Pin Badge (2024)
Accessioned in 2024, this Trans Ally badge was gifted to Preston Park Museum & Grounds earlier this year by a local Over 50s LGBTQIA+ group, set up by a local transgender rights defender.
The badges were made by a young man at a local hospital for their LGBTQIA+ network. He made 500 badges to hand out to anyone who ‘wishes to visibly show their allyship’. Preston Park Museum’s Collections Team and Tees Valley Museums were handed badges when visiting the Over 50s group and one of these is now proudly placed in the museums collection.
The badge has been collected as part of the Pioneers of Pride campaign, a partnership between Tees Valley Museums, Preston Park Museum & Grounds, and local LGBT+ communities.
The badge was previously displayed in the Free To Be Me exhibition at Preston Park Museum & Grounds, and is now on display in the open stores of the Spence Building.
