As part of this work, we’re looking to commission an artist who will plan and deliver a series of 6 half day work shops with a variety of groups, ranging from families, to older people living in care. The workshops will use recycled materials and link in with themes of industry and environment, linked to the river Tees over time.

We’ll also be commissioning a writer to work with a local school in Redcar.

The selected writer will lead and deliver a series of creative river and environmental themed workshops, inspired by the collections from Tees Valley Museums. They will explore with the students themes of climate change and environment through the context of the history of the river Tees, co-creating some written work, that will be displayed in a 2024 exhibition, that will be displayed alongside a sculpture of the river. You will also support the group in work which will form part of an Arts Award Explore and Discover.

The creative briefs, including information on how to apply can be downloaded below.
