Our differentiated workshops for schools cover a range of topics across many curriculum areas. They are curriculum based but seek to extend and enrich, offering authentic learning experiences that can only be had beyond the classroom. We believe in the power of independent, active and creative learning. We encourage students to explore, to empathise, to collaborate and to reflect. Museum visits build enthusiasm for topics, but teachers tell us they also motivate students more generally leading to high quality work back in school.

I have been able to link the work we are doing in class to something real, something the children have already seen and it allows them to link the information in their own minds.
They have remembered a lot of the information they learned and the enquiry skills they were taught, which they have used in subsequent History topics.
Children learned more from the two days at Kirkleatham than they had during the five week topic at school, thanks to excellent resources and lively and engaging museum staff.
