The Mystery of the Missing Chocolate

Your help is needed to locate a stolen chocolate egg in time for the Tees Valley Museums Easter celebrations.

Tees Valley Museums planned a great Easter celebration. They had even asked Barbara the cook to make some very special Easter eggs using one of the Victorian chocolate moulds from the collection at Preston Park Museum. But disaster has struck: one of the eggs has been stolen!

 The cook will support you to investigate each museum to find the thief. Time is ticking you have the Easter holidays to solve the mystery.

Welcome investigators!  Thank you for agreeing to help solve ‘The Mystery of the Missing Easter Egg’.  In this section you will find everything you need to help you with your investigations.

Suspect No.1

Are you ready to meet our first suspect?
Watch the video carefully. Could suspect No.1 be our thief?

Before you watch the video you’ll need these things from your investigation folder:

• the photo marked ‘Video 2’
• your notebook (look for the notes for the suspect called Sue)
• the activity sheet ‘How to blow and paint an egg’

Suspect No.2. 

Actually there are two suspects this time – will one of them be our thief?

Before you watch the video you’ll need these things from your investigation folder:

  • the photos marked ‘Video 3’
  • your notebook (look for the notes for the suspects called Lisa and Caroline)
  • the activity sheet ‘How to use embossing to create a Princess Mary Chocolate tin’

Suspect No. 3

Surely this is our thief – isn’t it?

Before you watch the video you’ll need these things from your investigation folder:

• the photo marked ‘Video 4’
• your notebook (look for the notes for the suspect called Jenny)
• the activity sheets ‘Design an Easter Island Moai’ and ‘The Family Birdman Challenge’

Suspect No. 4

Now this suspect looks extremely guilty – surely she’s going to be our thief?

Before you watch the video you’ll need these things from your investigation folder:

• the photo marked ‘Video 5’
• your notebook (look for the notes for the suspect called Liz)

After you’ve watched this video you might want to take part in the Yoga Mike video before going to Video 6.

Suspect No. 5

Can you believe we’ve got to our fifth suspect? Surely this is our thief – it has to be doesn’t it?!

Before you watch the video you’ll need these things from your investigation folder:

• your notebook (look for the notes for the suspect called Caitlin)
• the activity sheet ‘How to grow cress’

Suspect No.6

Now the tension is really mounting – will we crack this case?

Well, we’ve come to the end of our investigation. Time to hear from Bunny the cook one last time.
