Families

Welcome to our Families page! Here you will find ideas and resources for family activities and exploration with our museums.

Check out some of our resources below!

We do know that not everyone is able to visit so we will always have ways of enjoying our collections, events and activities online. The museums in Tees Valley have put together ideas that you can try at home. Why not check out their sites?

Make Your Own Toy Museum

Welcome to our ‘Make your own Toy Museum’ activity page. Here you will find a set of home schooling activities for 3-5 year olds linked to the English Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) educational programmes. These activities form a day of home learning, helping children to learn through play as they create their very own toy museum.

Get Creative: Lets Write

We have been working with the fantastic author of Alfie Bloom, Gabrielle Kent, who uses objects as inspiration in her writing. Better still Gabrielle has put her ideas on film and written tips on how to do it. Just click on the button below to view them. We would also like to thank the National Lottery Heritage Fund and Great Places for their support throughout the project.

Get Creative: Lets Make

Here are some great ideas for being creative at home, inspired by our collections and they are free.

Arts Award Discover: At Home

Your family can do Arts Award Discover with us and its free. It’s for children and young people from 5 to 25. It’s a chance to learn more about the Arts and to have a go at being creative. Doing Arts Award at home, works well if you can give a bit of help and guidance and better still if you’re able to join in.

Family Explorers!

We support the Family Explorers network which has some wonderful ideas for family activities across the North East and all the recommendations come from families just like yours. Why not give them a try and become an Explorer!
